Devlog day 5
Formation and control of tasks. There is a certain hierarchy in our team. Starting with me, I distribute TA for game designers. Like: Write TA for the artist, write a plot, etc. After that, the game designer writes TA for the guys and monitors their high-quality execution, and I help him so that the guys do it all on time. An important point is that it is imperative to distribute tasks by priority. It happens that a programmer expects an animation artist, etc. Ideally, this should not happen, but as we remember from the jam, this can happen in large teams.
As I said in the previous two logs, I taught the guys to use Jira, which is very convenient for distributing tasks between the team. But one problem occurred after which we never went into Jira. Since we thought about the idea of the game for a very long time and discussed various subtleties of our idea for a long time. That's why I didn't write the TA in Jira right away and had to write the TA in a regular Google Doc. This method turned out to have its advantages. Since we wrote out all the TA for all the days of the jam at once, the guys had the volume of work they had to do in front of their eyes, they immediately assessed their strengths and distributed the TA evenly for each day. Every day I ask the guys what they plan to draw, code, etc. today. If I saw that we need to draw the main character now, for example, and the person is drawing enemies, I said that it is more important to do the main character first because the programmer already has the walking mechanics ready and he is waiting for the character to be ready.
As for the game:
All cutscenes are drawn, the mechanics of buying Stats and the mechanics of enemy movement are implemented. We finished writing the music for the second location.
Some advice:
1. As a manager, you must be as meticulous and attentive as possible when writing TA for employees. Write down every little thing that you understand will be in the project. Because you can always have time to cut it out, and when some important picture is not drawn, it's already a disaster.
2. On writing TA. Try to make sure that the person understands you exactly. If a person does not understand what is expected of him, he either does it poorly, or, even worse, does nothing at all. Therefore, use all available methods: call in Discord, write in simple language, draw pictures by hand (You take a piece of paper or rip out a clean sheet in Paint and start drawing, you do not need to draw beautifully, you need to draw clearly and simply)
