Devlog day 7
About communication. I think the most important part of a team is communication. If you don't communicate or communicate poorly, then you won't build a good team and you won't complete a project. As I said, we get together every evening and discuss who did what during the day, discuss the game and just communicate. These calls maintain a friendly atmosphere in the team. I didn't come to this right away, at the very first jams I gathered the guys only on very important issues and not every day. I had to write a lot in chats. Discussion in chat is good and necessary, but when you talk to a person in Discord, you can discuss 100 times more things than through correspondence.
I also noticed that the less you communicate with a person via voice chat, the less involved he is in the process, of course there are exceptions, but in most cases this is true.
What communication channels do we use to communicate with the team and how do I convey information to them:
- Telegram - we spend most of our time here, we have channels set up in the group here. It's somewhat similar to communicating in Discord, but since it's more convenient for us to correspond in Telegram, we do it through it.
- Discord - we hold daily calls here and communicate via voice chat.
- Miro - an online board where we store the game concept
- Google Doc - we use it to write TA
What about the game:
All enemies are drawn and animated, sounds for the main enemies are written. All mechanics in the engine are connected.
Some tips:
1. Recruit talkative people for the team. When I was putting together a team, if I couldn't tell whether a person was talkative or not, I would arrange a voice chat with him and communicate. Once I wrote to one artist and when I asked to call him on Discord, he replied that he didn't have a microphone, after that I didn't write to him anymore.
2. Call to solve problematic situations. If a person has some difficulties, I always try to call him to help him cope with his problems.
